Thunderbird - download messages and final message count

I had a POP3 account I used in Thunderbird for many years. I had to move my TB to a new machine and copied the profile file to the new machine and started there.

Over time, it seemed that messages were not getting seen, so I thought I'd shift to (finally) using IMAP. I added the new configuration, saved off the old emails, and started with the IMAP use. Now I'm seeing a difference between the following:

1. Messages being downloaded 2. Messages ended in filtered 3. Messages ended in Inbox

The download count is let's say 60, the number filtered (showing in the filtered folder) is 10, but the number in the Inbox is 20. There are 30 missing emails that I can't account for. They do not show up in any of the folders (I have scanned for all messages from today, as an example). As you might imagine, this is a concern.

I am thinking the best might be to start over; that is, create a new profile. If I do this, please tell me a few things.

- Where the missing emails could be - Is there a cleaner alternative? As this is IMAP, I don't see a strong reason to save off the emails, as I'll get them when I sync. I would probably save off ones that are a bit older (let's say a week ago). - when I create the new profile, does this bring anything with it? Will the existing filters come with it or will I need to create those anew (I don't see this as a real issue as most are spam filters and if I start clean, I will just start flagging ones that I don't want anymore) - is there an alternative that uses the existing profile? How would that work? How do I remove all spam filters so nothing is filtered (so I can see that the numbers add up)?

I am using the Thunderbird in my MacBook Air M1 2020 and there are times that it don't work. Also, it will take days for the mails to actually load. And when I encounter the error. It prompts "Connection to server time out". And the email will keep on loading and I cannot receive new emails or send one. But sometimes it also works. I do not know what seems to be the problem. Please note that my internet is also always good. My mail settings are also correct. As Ive said, there are times that it is working however, it is always not working. How can I always make it work. I am a new macbook user. But always an iphone gal. Please see attached images for your reference. Thank you so much in advance for your help.

I have a new laptop, and have installed Thunderbird, which I have used for years. I have duplicated the settings on the new laptop that were on the old one. The old laptop did not have this problem.

When I send an email to Rogers Account 2, it doesn't arrive, ever. When an email is sent to Rogers Account 1, it arrives in the inboxes of both accounts.

I have allowed Thunderbird to do the account server setup, and have also done it manually. I've followed the setup instructions on Rogers Yahoo. Nothing has solved the problem.

So now I must see if anyone has any further ideas, as I can't find the problem.

Search of past events needs to be reinstated, if not in the previous manner, then in another - and sooner rather than later.

I have downloaded Thunderbird and am trying to set it up but I am struggling. I tried to add an additional email address but the SMTP for that email seem to have automatically become the default, which are different to the gmail settings, which is actually my defualt email address. I have tried to switch it back to the gmail settings but I can't get it to send emails, it keeps say the passowrd is wrong.

Please can someone help me with what I need to do to fix the gmail settings so I can receive and send email and also how I properly add an additional email address where I can add different SMTP details that don't affect the main email address for the account.

I just installed the newest Thunderbird client on my Windows 11 PC but I am unable to add any email accounts to it. My Gmail account hangs forever checking the password and my custom domain account hangs forever after it says Password OK. Both have messages like the following on the status bar at the bottom of the screen:

"Mail for user@host@emaildomain: Sending login information"

Nothing else happens. It just sits on this forever. If I Cancel, my email addresses are not added to Thunderbird.

I'm not sure what else I can do. Even trying to set the servers manually does not fix the issue.

Hi, I have been using T-Bird and Firefox exclusively on Ubuntu since 2014. Periodically, and it seems to coincide with either one of those updating, I have had an ongoing issue with my ability to click on links in my email and have them automatically open my browser (if not already open) or to open in a tab when Firefox is already open. At some point while suffering with this condition it will 'just fix itself' and work sometimes for months or years then do it all over again. I have tried over the years to fix it myself and have read & tried every suggested solution that can be found. I can open my emails in AOL, click on any link and have it open in Firefox. This leads me to believe the problem is with T-bird and not any settings in my browser but just in case I have examined settings in both apps and not found a cause or solution. I have tried every suggested fix in 'config' and have even removed and reinstalled T-bird three different times over the years but to no avail. I really hate having to start over with a new installation especially since it doesn't fix the problem but has caused no end of headaches trying to retrieve my address book and re-customize my email program back to how I like it. PLEASE! Mozilla it's time to fix this ongoing problem that quite obviously plagues so many users out there. I am open to any and all suggested solutions but will be surprised if anyone can suggest something I haven't already tried.

Environment: Windows 10 22H2, Thunderbird 128.0.1esr 64-bit on two different PC's, "A" and "B". Scenario and steps to reproduce: (1) On "A", installed extension "remove… (read more)

Environment: Windows 10 22H2, Thunderbird 128.0.1esr 64-bit on two different PC's, "A" and "B".

Scenario and steps to reproduce:

(1) On "A", installed extension "remove duplicate messages" (version compatible with Tbird 128). Works fine. Profile on this PC is D:\Alice\Thunderbird\Main.

(2) Completely get out of Thunderbird on "A".

(3) On "B", launch Thunderbird accessing the same profile residing on "A" as mounted drive, "Q:\Alice\Thunderbird\Main". Mail, calendar, etc work fine. However, the extension is not available (No "Remove Duplicates" on context menu or Tools menu). On Tools :: Extensions and Themes, extension shows up with a blank (empty) icon.

(4) On "B", disable the extension, close the "Extensions and Themes" tab and completely get out of Thunderbird. Re-launch Thunderbird, go to Tools :: Extensions and Themes, and the icon has reappeared. After re-enabling the extension, it is active and works flawlessly.

(5) Then, completely get out of Thunderbird on "B".

(6) On "A", launch Thunderbird. It now exhibits the same behaviour for the extension: it is not available, and the icon is blank. Performing the same steps as in step (4) above restores the extension to its working state. And, you have probably guessed by now, it is no longer working on "B" !

Just to make sure this is not specific to this particular extension ("remove duplicate messages"), I installed another extension ("Quicktext"), and it behaves exactly the same (either singly, or with "remove duplicate messages" still installed).

So, it seems that you cannot use extensions from the same profile accessed via two different paths, one PC accessing it via a local drive and another accessing it via a mounted drive. I want to re-interate, before someone asks, that Thunderbird is completely down on one PC before I try to access the profile on the other PC.

Has anyone seen this behaviour on Tbird 128 ?

I use pop3 for all my emails. I am setting up a new computer (not copying over old email backups) and trying to get my msn.com and live.com set up. It keeps telling me my username or password is incorrect. I can sign into the microsoft email directly, so I know they are correct. In thunderbird I add email and password for the msn email. click on pop3 - it auto populates the info. but when I click done - it states: unable to login at server. probably wrong configuration or username and password. (I did try imap with the same username and password and it worked - I just prefer to keep everything on my computer)

Fresh Install of Thunder Bird. Trying to send a new e-mail but not finding a SEND command there is only a SEND LATER button. Is there something wrong with my set-up that I need to change?

Also how can I change the font size of the tiles in my folders. I've searched the set-up over and over and not seeing an option for a font change. There is only a font change for new email.

Just updated to Thunderbird Nebula 128.0.1esr on Windows 11 and my calendars are all empty now. I have Google and Exchange (via OWL extension) calendars that have worked flawlessly up until this update, but all show no events in Thunderbird. No other changes have been made and the calendars appear populated in other applications.
